Now Playing: Weekend in Clearfield I spent the weekend in Clearfield, visiting with Todd and his family. It was a fun trip. I learned that not all hotel rooms that say accessible, are accessible. Especially for those in power chairs. Things you may want to ask about the room: 1. Does it have a flat entry? No step, lip, etc. 2. Is their room for a big powerchair to turn around? 3. Can the wheelchair get into the bathroom? 4. Will there be enough room next to the bed for the chair, so I can transfer? 5. Where is the sink located...in the bathroom, outside the bathroom?
When I needed to cath at the Fair, we went to the first aid area. There they had a place Todd & I could get in together. They were very accomodating. Not many handicap barriers this weekend. Good job Clearfield! Also, the ramp at Linda & George's was great! Thanks!

iPhone
Mood: Has any one tried or thought about getting an Apple iPhone? These phones look to be incredibly quad friendly and I do plan on getting one in the future but for now that price tag is holding me back. They do a lot and I'm sure in the end it's worth it but I was curious if any quads out there have tried typing or dialing a # on the touch screen? Right now I'm stuck sending very short txt msgs or using my computer and I try to limit my phone use to voice dialing, I can dial a number but it takes forever and is very frustrating.

Now Playing: Help with ROM from Shelly L After 10 months of having an aid perform R.O.M., I started doing it myself. Whenever an aid does my range I sweat and experience popping in my hip or feet (does not hurt). and my swelling goes down. It seems to me it is better when an aid does it for me. When I do it, I do not sweat and don't experience the "popping" and my swelling stays the same. My P.T. AND O.T. won't give me a straight answer when I ask which way is better? And is the popping and sweating a good thing or bad? Any input would be appreciated!

Mood: Now Playing: Other trips to try! Last Friday I spent some time with my awesome neice Taylor, Tracey, Brian, & Dad. We went to Zoo America. Very accessible. The animals were cool. My favorite part is being the living stroller for Miss Taylor. We also hit Chocolate World. The ride is accessible for manual wheelchairs, just not the big, bad, power chairs. So Aunt Shelly & sister Tracey, just shopped instead! We finished our day at Your Place, resturant, in Hershey. Again, accessible! Good food, try it!
My mom, Todd & I went to Stoudts Resturant in Adamstown. Very accessible and good food! Todd & I recently went to the Great Escapes Theaters, in Lebanon. My most favorite accessible theater by far. Forgot I was even in my bulky power chair. They have cut outs right next to seats. It is stadium style, so no matter how tall you sit in your chair, everyone can see over top of you. BTW, Transformers was awesome!
